Dawgs In 29 Days

The countdown has been on! Only 29 days until the Dawgs hit the field to kickoff the season! But this blog post has got a different topic. All over America (especially the southern states) there are old and young Georgia fans alike. The older fans have been around awhile and get the respect from other dawg fans. But for the young fans, well you really don’t know how true of a fan they are. I was up in North Carolina snow tubing after Georgia had one our first Natty in forty years and I was wearing my Georgia winter hat. So I worker had the nerve to ask if I was a fake Georgia fan. Really? of course I told him no and that I had been a fan for years. Some old dawg fans may say that “they don’t make the fans like they used to.” But trust me, old or young, a true fan is a true fan. Just a thought. But I can see how us younger fans have just seen our team win two Nattys and so you wonder how authentic the young fans are. we’ve had it easy…so you think. It’s like there’s been nothing but joy and big wins since we’ve been fans. But you’ve gotta remember us younger fans didn’t get to see the dawgs win the natty forty years ago. We didn’t even know what it felt like to see our team win like that (pure excitement). I knew the lows of losing a game long before I knew the highs of winning it all. But I didn’t become a Georgia fan because I thought it be fun or because I’d hopefully cheer for a winning team. I became a Georgia fan because I understood the team and wanted to cheer on a team that needed the support more than I realized. I remember seeing our team lose against Alabama in the National Championship years ago. I knew what it felt like to lose a big game before I knew what it felt like to win big. That’s why i’m such a big and true fan. I watched us lose a lot, win a lot but never get to where we wanted to go. But I didn’t give up. All i’m saying is young or old, there are many true Georgia fans out there and you’ll know it when you meet one. So don’t worry about our Dawgs. They’re in good hands with this next generation of DAWG fans.
