Dawgs Ruin Rebels Run

Driving Down Victory Lane

The Rebels had a good run going, with only one loss this season…But they hadn’t played the Dawgs. Ole Miss had previously lost to Alabama and now Georgia and it seems only fitting that now Georgia and Alabama will have a showdown in the SEC Championship. The Dawgs couldn’t help but ruin the Rebels run. The game was absolutely awesome! I love this team so much and they’re truly just a special team and I’m so thankful that I became a Georgia fan. It was just a fun game to watch and to see the Dawgs have so much fun on the field. A little went wrong for Georgia, a lot went right and with a surprise. Georgia had some injuries with a few players on the field. The Dawgs just played at the Georgia football level. And the surprise was Brock Bower’s was on the field and hardly missed a snap the whole night. The other surprise was Stetson Bennett was on the sidelines and later in the game was honored with the Walk-on award. One thing every fan loved was seeing the Bower’s McConkey duo on the field. They had a great game and when you have both of them on the field, the game just gets wild. 26 days after surgery, Bower’s had fought his way back and proved he was more than ready to be back on the field. It was surprising that he was able to play that soon after his ankle surgery. He recovered quickly and everyone sees him as the Superman in college football. Then you’ve got the Flash of college football in McConkey. He worked his way back from a back injury and now he plays like it never happened. No one can keep up with him and every play he’s apart of just becomes bigger. We are so thankful they are both healthy and on the field. We had a scare with McConkey in the third quarter of the game when he got banged up and had to go into the injury tent. We got news his leg was bleeding and later news that ole Miss defense had just rolled over him but he made it clear he was fine. We are glad to hear that and know that the duo is back. They change the whole game with every snap they are on the field. This was a close game at first and both teams continued to tie up the game until Georgia started to pull away and as soon as Georgia had the lead there was no looking back from there. Carson Beck had some boneheaded plays but as the game went on, he really stepped up and made some great plays. He’s doing a good job and he’s been getting better in some of areas of the game. He had a really good game. Woodring also had a great game with either one or two field goals but making however many he attempted. I know at first our place kicking duties didn’t look great but he’s only a freshman and quickly he came back from those first few field goals that he missed in the beginning of the season and everyone is getting confident in his field goals. Thorsen’s punt of the game wasn’t great but he also hasn’t had to punt that often this season. Hopefully we won’t hardly have to punt the rest of the season. When there’s less punts that means there’s more scores. The offense and defense both did their jobs. At first the defense didn’t seem to be reading out of the same playbook but a little later the defense really showed up and made it real hard for the rebels to score. I’ll admit our defense made some of those plays look too easy for the rebels to move down the field but the junkyard Dawgs got on the same page and did a great job. Our offense did their job and scored until the game was out of reach by far. The offense had some really awesome plays. You know, those plays that you wanna see when you’re playing a team like Alabama. Our second stringers did a tremendous job and for a group of young players they sure do know the game. But as for our first stringers on offense. They did great. Everyone loved seeing Bower’s score that touchdown after quickly recovering from surgery in 26 days. It was awesome and we all know how much it meant to him to be on that field with his brothers and score that touchdown. He hardly missed a snap. Once he was back on the field he didn’t wanna be on the sidelines. McConkey had another incredible game. He had some crazy catches and another touchdown. He plays as if he never had a back injury. He’s one of the best players on this team and I know his teammates are glad to have him back. It was also senior day for the Dawgs and the seniors last home game in Sanford Stadium. It can be sad thinking they won’t play on the Dooley field again and how we’ll miss them on this team. They made this team what it is but the season isn’t over yet. Saturday was also McConkey’s birthday and what a game he had that God blessed him with and the Dawg Nation family wishes him a happy birthday. It was an awesome day and these bulldogs did a great job. Congrats to all the coaches, offensive players, defensive players, specialists, and fans! We are on our way through the end of the season, to the SEC Championship and beyond! This game was our best game because we were great on offense and defense. I am grateful to be a Bulldog. God Bless and Go Dawgs!
