Fairies In The Forest
Once upon a time, there was a forest full of fairies, it was called the fairy grove. Once a year, the fairies would gather from the north, south, east and west to celebrate the season of Summer and the work ahead of them. These fairies all had the same job, to make children’s dreams come true all across the world. These were not tooth fairies, these were wish fairies. They would listen to the wishes of children across the world, and together the fairies worked to make their dreams come true. It was only a week until every fairy on earth would meet at fairy grove. The new young fairies would travel with their families to fairy grove and get their first chance to make kids dreams come true around the world.
The fairy came of age when they turned sixteen, from there the fairies would leave their families and be sent to another fairy grove somewhere in the world. One of these fairy families was the Meadows. They lived in Aspen grove, just below the Colorado mountains. They had a daughter of their own coming of age, her name was Starlight Meadow. And oh how Starlight dreamed of Fairy Grove and granting children’s wishes across the world. Starlight was an adventurous fairy. She was playful and full of hope. And she would need hope, for she would be leaving her family to join another grove in the world the following week.
“Oh I can’t wait to see Fairy Grove…oh and meet Violet Moon, the leader of the fairies! But of course I will be sad to leave you and father,” Starlight said as she looked upon her mother’s saddened face. “Oh child, I am excited for you,” her mother said. And oh how time flew bye. It was now time for all the Fairies in Aspen Grove to be heading south for the fairy grove celebration.
The Meadow family packed what Starlight would need in a small bag and then they were on the way. They traveled alongside all the fairies from aspen grove. The Fairy Grove wasn’t far from the fairies in the west. Fairy grove was in the valley of the Colorado mountains where a large forest grew, just miles from where the Meadows lived. Although it wasn’t far, starlight had never seen the Fairy Grove. She had only ever seen the Aspen grove because it had been her home. The fairies flew everywhere they went, and so the new fairies would have very little of their belongings with them, for the weight would be too much to bear. But Starlight didn’t mind the fact that she really couldn’t take any of her things with her. She thought of it like a fresh start. The hours passed and the Meadows had arrived at Fairy Grove. Soon Fairies from around the world arrived and the celebration began.
Starlight fell in love with the Grove. It was hidden below the Aspen trees and the fireflies lit up the night. It was no doubt Magical. Starlight even noticed magical animals in the forest that she had never seen before. And the weirdest part is that they weren't human size animals, they were just a little bigger than the fairies. Starlight let out a scream we she noticed a fairy riding on the back of one of these animals that looked to be a blue dapple grey horse. The forest quickly became quiet, as Violet Moon made her way to the center of all the fairies. “Welcome Fairies from the North, Fairies from the South, Fairies from the East and Fairies from the west. I welcome you to this special celebration, in which we welcome the new wish fairies”
Now it was time for the young fairies to say goodbye to their parents. Starlight was frozen in fear. She didn’t want to say goodbye to her parents. She watched as all the other fairies did, and a tear fell from Starlight’s face. But Starlight Meadow’s adventure was just about to begin. And so Starlight ran into her parents arms. “I love you mother, I love you father,” Starlight said as she hugged them tightly. “I won’t say goodbye. So I will say farewell…for now,” Starlight said as she turned to face Violet Moon. “You my dear are the last fairy to be assigned to a place in this world, where you can make wishes a reality….and you are now a fairy headed North,” Violet Moon said as she invited starlight to join the fairies that were headed to Snowflake Grove in Maine.
Starlight wasn’t usually shy but she sure wasn’t going to be the one to speak up first, she didn’t know a thing about these fairies. Lucky for her, she didn’t have to. “Hello, I am River Lilly from the north.” River Lilly wore a pale blue shirt and pants and her hair was a light gray blue color and her eyes were bright blue. “Hi, I am Starlight Meadow from the west.” Starlight wore green pants with a brown shirt and vest. She had auburn hair and had blue eyes with a hint of hazel. “I am Misty Hollow from the east,” said the tall fairy with long brown hair. “And I am Oakland from the south,” said the fairy with the dark and spiky hair. “And I am the one and only Dimond Back, also from the south,” another fairy said, pushing through the crowd.
These young fairies would all be heading north, where they would become wish fairies in Maine. They must learn to work together, for they would be joining a new grove full of older and wiser fairies. The celebration went on for hours but it was time for the new fairies to head to their new groves. The fairies heading to the north took flight, for they had a long cold journey ahead of them. Starlight flew up into the sky and twirled through the air in pure joy. She was excited to e starting a new journey. River Lilly was from Snowflake Grove and she told Starlight Meadow all about it. She mentioned the underground caves of ice and the Northern Lights and the magical horses that they rode upon. Starlight could hardly wait.
The days passed bye and the wind blew harder and the air became colder. They weren’t far from Maine and their new grove. Luckily the new fairies were given new winter white clothes that were much warmer. Starlight new it was the beginning of summer but here in the north wasn’t as warm as the west. It wasn’t long before River Lilly started to point down below where they were flying. “That’s the Snowflake Grove!” Starlight couldn’t believe her eyes. It looked even more magical than she had imagined it. Starlight was lead by a fairy to her room. She and River Lilly both had a room in a beautiful Maple tree. “This place is beautiful!” yelled Starlight as she spun up into the air.
Starlight was at home and well rested in a matter of days. And now the work would begin. The fairies would be sent around the northern states to make kids wishes a reality. The next day came early, as the new fairies would travel to New York to answer childrens wishes. And oh how time passed. It had been four weeks now and the new wish fairies had made countless dreams come true. Together, Starlight Meadow, River Lilly, Oakland Pine, Misty Hollow and Dimond Back had found a girl’s lost toy, brought a boy’s lost puppy home and even found a lost girl in the woods and brought her home to her family. That is just to name a few and although these seem like easy tasks, they are not, for the fairies have to remain unseen in their missions. they have ways of doing that and one of those would be the wish dust, and it causes the fairies to be invisible. Unlike other fairies, the wish fairies don’t have pixie dust, instead their ability to fly comes from the wishes children make. Kids wishes around the world keeps the fairies flying around the world.
Starlight was flying through New York City, as its bright light lit up the night. Starlight Meadow found herself at the open window of a tall apartment building and from that apartment window she noticed a young girl that kneeled beside her bed and from her mouth came the words “I wish my father would come home from the war, amen.” By now Starlight had made many wishes become reality but never had she heard a wish like this. And how on earth was she supposed to bring a father home from war? The new fairies were staying at a grove in a New York City park that had many tall trees. Starlight flew as fast as she could there. “You won’t believe the wish I just heard.” Starlight told her friends everything. They needed to come up with a plan on how to bring this girl’s father home from war. But it was against the rules to pull him out of the war that he was fighting in. After a child made a wish, the fairies magic caused stars to form a line in the sky that lead them to where that wish could be answered. This girl’s wish lead to Iraq. That is where her father was fighting in war. “Well if we can’t pull him out of war, we will just have to protect him until his deployment is over,” Starlight explained knowing it wa the only way. But the fairies first needed to know more and so they dusted themselves in wish dust and headed back to the young girl’s apartment. Inside it they found papers stating that this was actually the father’s last deployment. He would have served his years in the army and that is why the girl longed for her father to return home safe.
The fairies made their way back to the grove in the middle of New York City and there they found rest in their trees, for tomorrow would be a long journey. Luckily for the fairies, all the wishes in the world kept them flying fast so the journey wouldn’t be more than two weeks long. With this great of a wish, it gave the fairies the ability to fly as fast as a jet in the sky. The next morning came early and the young fairies journey had began. They would stop at fairy groves along the way to rest and refill their bags with food and water. It had nearly been a week and the fairies were tired of their travels. They rested the night at a grove just outside of the Iraq desert. “This plan was crazy. I can’t go on. I am staying here at this grove until y’all head back home,” Diamond Back explained. And so the fairies continued on the journey but a week later after reaching the Iraq desert, Misty Hollow came down with a cold. Her body couldn’t handle going from cold to desert hot in just a few days. The fairies had to leave her with fairies from the desert grove and they would fly her back to the grove where diamond Back stayed. And so Starlight Meadow, River Lilly and Oakland Pine again set out on their journey. They rested during the day and followed the stars at night and it was four more days before they came upon the brightest star, that rested above Hope’s father. The fairies had learned that the young girl’s name was Hope. And indeed the fairies themselves needed hope for this great journey. During the journey Starlight had repeated to herself the words of violet Moon, “Turning wishes into reality.”
It was after midnight when the fairies found Hope’s father at an army camp in the middle of the desert. The fairies found their way into the tents and rested for the night. But they woke up suddenly the next morning to gunfire. The camp was under attack. The fairies once again dusted themselves in wish dust and followed Hope’s father out into the battle. The enemy was on sand dunes and had large guns firing. The fairies quickly realized the only way to protect Hope’s father was to invade the enemy’s camp. The fairies flew through the air dodging bullets and when they made it to the enemy’s camp they knew what they had to do. Together they used the wish dust and sprinkled it on all the ammo in the camp so the enemy could not find it. “Where is all the ammo?” a man asked. “It seems we’ve used it all!” another man yelled. Next, the fairies starting picking up rocks and jamming up the rest of the guns. Within minutes, the enemy surrendered. “We won!” the fairies yelled. Hope’s dad was safe. Tomorrow He and his troops would be heading home in the helicopters.
The fairies wasted no time in getting home. They flew to the grove just outside of the desert and found Diamond Back and Misty Hollow and from there they flew home without stopping. The fairies made it back to New York the next night and they were exhausted. But Starlight Knew that Hope’s father would be arriving at the airport tomorrow and so she flew up to Hope’s apartment window and there was Hope, looking up at the stars and making her one wish…little did she know that wish was already a reality. The next morning Hope and her mother drove to the airport, little did they know three fairies were in the back seat. Hope awaited her father in the crowd. The fairies peeked out of Hope’s purse. Before they knew it the crowd separated and there He was, Hope’s father. Hope ran and jumped into his arms, there was where she felt home.
The fairies now watched from the window outside. They celebrated and cheered for what they had accomplished. The journey was long but it was worth it. Starlight Meadow had changed Hope’s life forever and she planned to change many more lives…by making a simple wish, a reality.
The End
