Joy Refreshes

Ever go through a week of school or work and the weekend doesn’t last long enough and before you know it, another work week has started? Often we can feel burned out and we feel tired and lazy. We think it has no effect but it does and it comes out in our work place. We can try to hide it but those we come in contact with will see the tiredness on our face. I have only found one thing that truly refreshes me after a long week of work and that is the joy of Jesus. We all go through hard things and it makes it even harder to find joy. But whether we find joy or not depends on where we are searching for it. Are we searching the world for joy or searching for the joy that is found in Jesus? Working full time isn’t easy and I often have to put hobbies aside but I found myself putting time with God to the side. But I need the joy found in reading His word and being in His presence daily. So now each morning when I get up for work I take time to read two chapters of the Word and listen to two worship songs. It’s one of the best things I can choose to do daily. I have to go to work, but I have to choose to spend time with Jesus. And the truth is, if I want to bring my best to the work place, I need time with Jesus because it is His joy that refreshes my heart, mind and soul. Lately God has been teaching me how important time with Him is because it isn’t just for me. It’s also for people I come in contact with. They get a chance to see Jesus represented in me. What an honor we have! To get to share the joy of Jesus with others that may not even know where this joy comes from. So whether you’re in school or have a job, take time to spend with Jesus so that you can bring the best version of you to your work place. And the best version of us is the version where we look, act and talk more like Jesus than we thought was possible.
