Bulldog Beatdown

Georgia VS UT-Martin

What a game we had. I don’t have social media but I heard that Georgia fans were using it to state their opinions that “Georgia did not play like a national championship team.” Yeah I saw the game. We all have our doubts but my hopes and belief in my team far out way them. There’s moments I doubt. But they are few if. I think us fans can allow them some slack the first game. We are a new team. New Quarterback, new offensive Coordinator and many new players. This changes the way we play games. It won’t be the same as when Stetson and Todd Monken were at Georgia. We’ve gotta move on, support this team and it’s new additions and find our new rhythm in the game. If we wanna win another Natty we are gonna have to work together, coaches, players and fans. We are a team. We are all teammates and we’ve got a role to play whether you’re on the field, on the sidelines or in the stands. This team needs us all. My thoughts on the game? I have many. First, the Quarterback. I thought I was gonna see more of all the great things Beck had to bring to the team that everyone was talking about. I saw some great things but I also saw some bone-headed plays that could cost a game against a big team. Thankfully we we’re playing a nobody. But with all these new players in the game, they deserve some grace. And I will give our QB the benefit of the doubt as I did Fromm and Bennett before him. But we also have two other capable Quarterbacks. All I am saying is that we have options in the QB room. I saw our other two Quarterbacks take advantage of their playing time and really show what they can bring to this team. These Quarterbacks are still fighting for the starting position in my opinion. We saw what Bennett had to go through and accomplish before getting to be “the guy” and starting his first season opener and keeping the job from there. It isn’t easy. One of these QBs is really gonna have to step up and show what they have that the other QBs don’t. One thing that can be frustrating is when the game starts off slow and you have to punt the ball back when playing a nobody. We all knew it. “We should be scoring.” But again, this is the first game. And I saw some games in our past two amazing seasons that started slow. And when you play a nobody, you don’t always have that big fire under your butt as you do when playing a big rival team and can’t imagine losing. Some of my family and I have been up in the NC mountains and today we had a lovely hike. And there we ran into an older couple and started a conversation. Once the Husband found out we were from Georgia, he had to ask if we we’re Georgia fans. My dad looked right at me and pointed and of course I was wearing the Red & Black. They were Clemson and South Carolina fans. The wife said that she hopes I have a good season and that it looks like I will. And of course dad brought up the fact that he wasn’t sure that was true after the game he saw last week. But the husband pointed out that we still won by thirty points. My mom mentioned how I always believe in my team. And that’s still true. I don’t gotta make excuses for my team. They can truly play bad games and lose half of them, but I’m still gonna believe in them. And yes, I don’t see us losing like that. I’m not saying our game last week was perfect. It wasn’t. But it’s our first game, we are a young team and not to mention all the injuries my Dawgs are dealing with. We’ve got things to work on but I know we’ll work until we are playing to our full potential. I know we didn’t play to our full potential and live up to our standard. But we aren’t the same team as last year. And I believe we did our best. And that right there is what matters. I don’t care what the naysayers are saying. They think we aren’t a championship team this year. So? They said that the past two years and said Stetson Bennett wasn’t the guy to get us there. So do I worry when I hear Georgia fans and sport shows saying that? Absolutely not. Because I heard when they said our past Quarterback wasn’t good enough and yet he helped get us to back to back National champions. This team did their best and they did a great job. It’s gonna be a great season of cheering the Dawgs on in all their success. Go Dawgs!
